Sports Massage is a wonderful, non-invasive therapy that stimulates the repair and function of muscular and connective tissues; improving range of movement and supporting you in injury prevention and recovery. Whilst it is a fantastic and natural treatment option, in some cases, massage cannot be performed as it could be unsafe for you as a client or, aggravate an underlying medical condition. These exceptions are called contraindications.
There are 3 types of Contraindication to massage:
- TOTAL: Massage cannot be performed at all.
- LOCAL: Massage can be performed but the affected area must be avoided.
- MEDICAL: Massage cannot be performed without consent from your GP.
